The night after marrying a 40-year-old man, this 8-year-old bride died because of internal bleeding. Shocking!

Can you imagine and 8 year old child married to a man which is five times her age?

It’s heartbreaking to hear an 8 year old child died of internal bleeding the night of her wedding to a 40 year old man. This young girl didn’t even get the chance to enjoy her childhood. Anyways, this was an incident that happened in the Yemen which became a hot button issue on child brides and it’s heating up the news.

According to Kuwaiti, one of the country’s daily newspapers, this young girl named Raman died of internal hemorrhaging which is related to taking her virginity.

On the other hand, a security official in Haradh said that there was no truth on the incident.  The official did not disclose his identity for security reasons.

Nevertheless, it was confirmed by two Meedi residents which was contacted by Reuters that the incident really took place. They said that the tribal chief was covering up the incident after the news broke. A warning was also given to the local journalist for the story not to be covered.

Well, this is common in Yemen especially to the poor families. They wanted their daughter at a very young age to get married. The reason behind this was for them to save the cost in bringing up the child and at the same time they get an extra income from the dowry given to their daughter.  

According to UNICEF, at around 700 million of women were married under the age of 18 worldwide. It’s important for a child to enjoy childhood years and parents should know this no matter how difficult life is. It should be the responsibility of the parents to feed their child not the other way around until they are ready to get independent in the future.
